The early Christians met each others needs. God provided business owners the ability to employ fellow Christians (the parable of the farm owner). Those that had excess to give to their fellow Christians in need (Barnabas who sold his field and gave it to be distributed). They took care of one another with integrity. Those that had skills shared them. Those that had knowledge shared it. This is where practical Christianity shows the love of Christ. As James says, what good is it if a brother tells you he has need of a coat and we say "be warmed and filled" I'll pray for you and we don't fill the need. If we are able to fill the need, we fill it. They will know we are Christians by our love for one another. James goes on to say, show me your faith without your works and I will show you my faith by my works. Jesus said "you will know them by their fruits" not words, how much scripture we can recite or how high we raise our hands in praise. It's time we show our faith by our works to the world (anonymously when we can because what God sees in secret, he will reward in the open). He will judge us by the intent of our heart, not the image we project.
This is the "love one another" part. This is where those of us who have needs, share our needs for employment, financial help, prayer requests or any other needs as Christians and where other Christians meet those needs.
